Moving and handling is a key part of the working day for most employees; from moving equipment, laundry, catering, supplies or waste to assisting patients in moving. Poor Moving and Handling practice can lead to back pain and musculoskeletal disorders, which can potentially lead to an inability to work.

The team provides a Moving and Handling ergonomics service which:

• Reduces work related musculoskeletal disorders thereby optimising your health
• Complies with legal and professional requirements
• Sets high standards of care for patients during moving and handling, contributing to patient safety and good patient experience
• Advises and instructs on complex handling issues
• Provides risk assessment and advice for individual staff referred by occupational health

The team is also responsible for assessing the risks associated with manual handling and ensuring that appropriate action to reduce such risks, including the handling of patients, is taken. 

The Moving and Handling Team comprises of healthcare professionals, consisting of Registered nurses and Physiotherapists, who deliver specialist education and training.

The Moving and Handling team has a cross site administrator who will be able to assist with all your training booking needs.
