Medical Education – Undergraduate

The medical education team oversees the delivery of all medical education provided by the Trust, from undergraduate medical and dental placements through Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, to the postgraduate foundation, core and specialty training programmes. We also provide faculty development for our trainers’ across our hospitals.

The team supports education programmes for general practice, dental practice, refugee education and electives placements.

Barts Health has Medical Students on placement from the Queen Mary School of Medicine and Dentistry. Students from the 3rd, 4th and 5th years are attached to the trust for varying periods throughout the year and undertake placements across the trust.

The Medical and Dental UG Education Team are responsible for managing, supporting, and overseeing all aspects of clinical placements for UG medical students on the MBBS programme and PA students on the Physician Associate training programme across Barts Health NHS Trust.

Medical Education Centres at each site provide dedicated teaching, study and simulation facilities for medical students. Each site is supported by a clinical teaching team comprising of doctors and junior medical staff, as well as other healthcare professionals.
